Twittle, twittle, what does it mean?
Taking your words into a whole new realm
Join the twittle train
And exercise your brain.

If you don’t know Carolyn Hastings yet, you are in for a pleasant surprise! Carolyn has been twittling for quite some time now.

I’d hear a twittle or a tweet and wonder, “now, what’s that all about?”

What train?

And what’s it got to do with my brain?

Confused yet?! Well, you should be. I was until I followed the trail to find out what all the fuss was about. A twittle is a “nutty poem.” Oh! I don’t want to lead you astray, so I’ll let the Twittle Queen herself, Carolyn Hastings explain.

So what is a twittle you might ask

Good question.

A twittle is a 100-letter, 4-line micropoem.

Exactly 100 alphabet letters — numbers, punctuation, symbols, spaces etc. are not included in the count.

By definition, a twittle is a quatrain — a four line poem or verse with a rhyme scheme — but to make twittles more accessible, I’ve made the rhyming element an optional extra.

Being what they are, twittles are perfect to tweet on Twitter.

Below are some examples from the twittle expert, Carolyn Hastings.

She even goes so far as to say, twittles are her superpower!

David Rudder a diarist and top writer in poetry joined the twittle train in May 2021 with a poem entitled, Love Twittle.

I’ve added it below as it’s so wonderful.

I asked the past if love would last,
And she said one thing is true.
The greatest love you’ll ever have,
Is the soul inside of you.

Finally, I’d like to thank Carolyn for bringing her delightful twittles to my new publication, New Creation.

Her poem, Kisses of Gold is a great fit. I’ve added it below for your enjoyment.

Kisses of gold bless the morn
His promise for a glorious day
Life here on Earth as in Heaven
is no more than a heartbeat away

Thank you, Carolyn, for bringing us so much fun and laughter with your twittle train. It’s a joy to know you!

I’m so pleased to have finally written my first ever twittle!

I hope I got it right! :)
