Dad and his pipe

I remember my dad

smoking his pipe

He enjoyed that pipe

I liked it too

There was something

comforting in it for him

And to see him

stuff that tobacco

into the top of the pipe

press it down a bit

and then

sit back in his chair

by the fire

slippers on &

strike a match

and draw in

Then with one blow

distinguish

the flame

toss the match in the fire

and enjoy.

It was nice to see him

relax like that

with his pipe.
