I’m really going out on a limb here

Another venture

Chimney pots, Pimlico, London: Photo taken by the author

I don’t know why I need to keep doing this
Moving from one place to the next
But I know I have to do it
I owe it to myself
There she is within me saying,
‘Yeah, just go for it!
You liked the other thing,
but not enough to say,
Yes, this fits’
I hop from
Avignon to Montpellier
Carcassone and Toulouse
Paris to London and back
Well, I’m not back yet
I’m on my last night in London
— Pimlico
Looking out at the
terracotta chimney pots from
my 5th-floor hotel room
I will be brave again
and tomorrow travel
beneath the sea
This is big for me
as I don’t like to be enclosed
I prefer open spaces
where I can breathe and
see where I am going
It’s my second time
to go through the
‘Chunnel’ and I reckon it
will be my last
I’ve chosen France this time
London feels like my past
France feels right for now
Another new beginning,
yet I’m scared
as I always am when
I take off like this
Far from the familiar
heading into the unknown
I told Him tonight
that I was scared
and He said,
‘Why are you scared?
Montpellier is full of happy people’
I said, ‘yes you’re right
it is’
I’m going now and I won’t
be afraid this time
It is what it is
and I am ready.
