Trusting Myself
I haven’t always been there for you
And I’m sorry for that
I want to make it up to you
I know you may not trust me now
as I have abandoned you
so many times
and even when I try to be there
I do it again
I dismiss you
I don’t listen to what you are saying
I let others have their way
and you have to suffer
the consequences of those
decisions
I want to change
Forgive me
I want to start today
I will not abandon you again
I will listen to you
I will have your back
You can depend on me
I am for you
not against you
I will not let others hurt you
I will speak up
I will defend you
I will carve out the right path
for you
I will make your life good
I will ensure your safety
I will surround you with
good things
and good people
who care about you
I will care for you
I will love you
I will not abandon you
I will be here for you
— always.

Before Christmas, I did some healing work. I took time to tune in to what I was feeling.
Recently, I made a decision that was not so good for me, and because of it, I suffered.
It wasn’t the worst thing (I may write about it later), but it stung enough to make me take a look at where I was betraying myself.
Then today, I came across Sahil Patel’s poem entitled, “I Know You Are Worth It,” and it resonated with me.
In his poem, he is writing to himself. It’s a poem of self-love and respect.
He is encouraging and comforting himself, but in it, he makes a commitment not to give up, even if he sometimes lacks self-confidence.
My poem is written in the same manner. I am making a commitment to being there for myself from now on. I will build more self-trust.
Thank you for reading!
This is the beautiful poem Sahil Patel wrote that inspired me to put my recent self-development work into words.
Thank you, Sahil. You are an inspiration!
